Mcebisi is an entrepreneur whose drive and main focus are to discover, develop, and exploit natural resources for the benefit of humankind, thereby creating value and employment. His extensive career has given him the skills necessary to accomplish this intent. He started his career as a Design Engineer to Senior Engineer for Caltex Oil Refinery (now Chevron) in Millerton. He was then taken up by Murray & Roberts as Commercial Director of Murray & Roberts Services responsible for Woodline (Timber) and other companies. Interest in timber due to Woodline & family background developed, he then formed a consortium to bid for SAFCOL a company owned by the South African Government that was being privatized. He managed to raise R500million from the institutions like Donald Lufkiin & Jenrette now Credit Suisse from New York, ABSA, and other pension funds being the CEO of Zama Resources. Zama was named the preferred bidder by the South African government. This transaction was canned by the state due to non-disclosure of benefit received by the state official, his company was a preferred bidder.
As a result of his experience, he was then appointed as an Executive Director of AVM Capital a private equity arm of The Business Bank (“TBB”) led by Chris Liebenberg (Former Minister of Finance) and Arno Van Wyk (Former Managing Director of Ackerman’s), the fund was focused on resources and timber.
TBB then became a victim of the collapse of small banks in South Africa during 1998 – 2001 resulting from liquidity issues, then the fund was winded.
He then joined Abante Virtus as the Chief Executive Officer, which was also a private equity fund formed by Abante Capital. During his tenure, he founded Wesizwe Platinum listed on the main board JSE, and funded numerous other companies on behalf of Abante Virtus.
He is the Founder of Ritam Holdings a diverse industrial company in Johannesburg South Africa and Lusaka in Zambia with a clear vision to create an African-based industrial group without parallel.
